  • Mail contact not recognised when receiving e-mail.

    Situation:

I am in the middle of a transition from one Exchange 2000 to one Exchange 2007 server.
All mailboxes have already been moved to the Exchange 2007 server.
We have many mail-enabled 'mail contacts'.

    Problem:

When receiving mail via the Exchange 2000 server all 'mail contacts' are recognized and visible in the from field in Outlook.

When receiving mail via the Exchange 2007 server all 'mail contacts' are NOT recognized and visible in the from field in Outlook.

(In stead of the name of the 'mail contact' the name of the sender is visable in the From field of Outlook.)

Someone any adea where to search?

Do you see these mail enabled contacts in the GAL?
If you create a fresh contact through the Exchange 2007 management console, does it work then?

Re: Mail contact not recognised when receiving e-mail.

Indeed, all mail contacts exist in the GAL.

Yes, the e-mail addres is normal visable when receiving the e-mail.

Today i created a new mail enabled contact on the Exchange 2007 server with e-mail address [email protected] and name 'TEMP G'

Wait a few ours. Point my e-mail directly to Exchange 2007 server, mail has been received correctly, but the name is not displayed as 'TEMP G'.

After that i point my e-mail back to Exchangen 2000 server, sent a test e-mail, and directly te name is displayed as 'TEMP G' when receiving the e-mail.

I think i miss a point in the transation.

Maybe i have to upgrade global address lists, but I thouht upgrading GAL is only to manage them in Exchange 2007 console?

We have 3 global address lists:

      'default global address list'

      'ga'

      'global address list'

All of them are not yet upgraded, and version 6.5.6500.0. I also cannot see which of the 3 are used, so the other 2 maybe can be disabled.
