  • User receiving emails for a group he is not part of??

    Hi all

This is on SBS 2008 - I will outline the whole email flow config here even if it seems irrelevant, can you see why?

    User 1 - 5

    Distribution Groups
    [email protected] - User 1, 2, 5
    [email protected] - User 2, 3, 5
    [email protected] - User 2, 4, 5

Automatic Forwarding Rules (Deliver to recipient + forwarding mailbox)
User 1 - Forward to [email protected]
User 3 - Forward to [email protected]
User 4 - Forward to [email protected]
User 5 - Fordward to [email protected]

    Thats it.

For some reason, now, all emails sent to [email protected] and [email protected] are also being sent to User 1. He isnt part of any of the groups and the emails do not include his email address.

    Help!

    Ah christ, I realised why.

    Ignore my rambling.

If someone sent an email to [email protected] or [email protected], the email would be delivered to User 5 as they are part of both groups.

The automatic forwarding rule on Exchange for User 5 then forwards it to [email protected] which User 1 is part of!

    Flipping heck.

All I did is create an outlook rule to delete anything sent to either one of those 2 groups unless his name is in the to or cc box, seems to do the trick.
