  • HUB take over?

    Hi,

I have an exchange 03 environment and migrating this weekend to 2010. I plan to move all of my mailboxes and public folders in one shot, small environment. My question is, if install exchange 2010 ahead of time and not migrate anything to it, will the hub transport take over mail flow locally and externally? Or will i be able to have installed in my environment without it disrupting anything? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Re: HUB take over?

my experience is no, it won't take over, but it will replicate the current situation.

In my testbed, I found that if someone accidently deleted an smtp connector on the Ex10 server it would also delete it on the ex03 server.
Subsequently, all the users on the ex03 server were not able to send outbound mail, as the other connector on the EX10 server was not accepting mail from them at that point in time...

However, when the appropriate connector existed on the ex03 server, mail all went via the ex03 smtp connector, as expected

    does this help?

If you don't touch anything after installing Exchange 2010 you are perfectly fine.

Exchange 2010 will only take over functions you are configuring.
