  • public contacts issue

    Hi All,

Ive installed a sbs 2008 prem with the exchange 2007. on request of my client
    i `ve created a publicfolder with the company`s contacts.
the sbs is working well and all the latest hotfixes and sp`s are installed.
this afternoon i received a call from my client that if someone changed a contact in the public folder (lets say another emailaddress) on pc A that the change isn`t visible on pc B not even after a restart.
what could be the problem here?

if additional info is needed pls ask

    Thanks

    Marc

    Re: public contacts issue

Public Folder content should be live. A reboot wouldn't be required.
Ensure that the Outlook client isn't configured to download Public Folders as well. If it is, turn it off.

You can always verify a change is visible through OWA. That shows whether the change is active in the database.

      Re: public contacts issue

I think i found out the problem,
the clients are all using outlook 2007 as i`ve said before. the public company contacts were created in the public folder some of the staff found out that they could add the folder to their favorites and normally it wil appear under other contacts in outlook.
on 2 of the client pc it was situated my contacts so if you make a change then it won`t been seen in the rest of the organisation.
my next challenge is now is to merge somehow so that the latetest changes made in those 2 will be visible for the entire organisation.....

Even adding the folder to favourites shouldn't cause this problem, unless the client is configured to download favourites. If that is happening, then turn it off.
