  • Exchange 2007 Storage Group disk space

I have an exchange 2007 server with 10 storage groups spanned over separate SAN drives.

10 SAN drives each at 149.99 GB

SG10 has 620 MB left from 149.99 GB.

Mailboxes were move from SG10 to the other storage groups and the mailboxes are working without an issue.

However, the SG10 drive space will not release to reflect the change in available space in Computer Management even though in the exchange console shows me that there is now space available over 20 GB.

    Any ideas?

    That is the expected behaviour.
The physical Exchange database files will never shrink. All that happens is the space is marked as white space. Your best option is to remove everything from the database, drop the database, delete the files then recreate it. Risk free, zero downtime.
