  • Can't Send Mails after Moving Mailbox to Exchange 2007

Hello, I have an Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2003 architecture working in my organization. One of the storage groups on the Exchange 2003 crashed. I hardly have backups in place, due to low resource.
I adviced those clients using Outlook to archive their mails. I then deleted their Exchange Attributes in Active Directory (Server 2003). Now I created a new mailbox for them in Exchange 2007. When people send messages to those users and use their name in their global address list in Outlook, the mails dont get delivered. What could be the problem?..

How long has it been since you changed? The cached GAL in outlook can take up to 48 hours to catch up with reality

If they send from the Outlook Web Access GAL, do messages get through?

Thanks for the quick reply. When mails get sent through Web Access it gets delivered into these mailboxes. So its baffling us, why it doesn't go well with Outlook..
Is there a way to refresh the GAL for my organization; so that it gets populated before 48 hours for these users?
      Thank you.

You cannot force the offline address book to update.

        Two things have to happen.
The OAB has to be regenerated by the server. That happens once a day by default, but you can force it to happen.

        get-offlineaddressbook | update-offlineaddressbook

However Outlook only downloads the Offline Address Book once every 24 hours or when Outlook is started - that behaviour cannot be changed. The most you can do is force the update as above, then ask the users to download the address book manually by using the option in the Send/Receive menu.
