  • Unable to remove public folders Ex2007

I have a test server with public folders on it that I am trying to delete.

I am using the following commands to remove them:

    Code:
    Get-PublicFolder -Server "mailmbx01" "\" -Recurse -ResultSize:Unlimited | Remove-PublicFolder -Server "mailmbx01" -Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinue
    Get-PublicFolder -Server "mailmbx01" "\Non_Ipm_Subtree" -Recurse -ResultSize:Unlimited | Remove-PublicFolder -Server "mailmbx01" -Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinue
    Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server "mailmbx01" | fl
However when I run this command I say yes to deleting the folders, I leave it for about 20 mins and I still can not remove the public folder DB.

I do not want to replicate it, I just want to delete it, anyone know how I can do this?

    Thanks

    Dave

The "nuclear option" is to go into ADSIEdit.msc, drill down tothe Public Folder database object, and delete it that way.

Thanks for the reply Paul, however I'd like to know if there is a backup plan for this ?
in case something wrong, how can we fall back to resume operations ?

I also having the same problem in deleting my public folder too.

Well you're only deleting the AD metadata, not the actual database itself.

But still, the best recovery plan would be to do backup of the database first.
