  • How to display Free/Busy status and OOF message when "Server is not avail." Error

    Hi there,

I cannot see my other people FreeBusy / calendar entry on their Outlook, therefore I'm seeking your help here from the following error:

Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable.
If I want to allow anonymous user in my organization to see the calendar of everyone (calendar sharing) in Exchange Server 2007, how to do it please ?

    1. from: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...CHG.80%29.aspx It said that i must provide the username for granting the access.
    2. I don't know where to execute the following cmdlets:
    Code:
    add-mailboxPermission -identity -accessrights:fullaccess
get-mailbox -server Add-MailboxPermission -User -AccessRights FullAccess
shall I run them both as 2 lines script ?

    Thanks.

By default all users can see the simple free/busy information. No changes are required. The error that you have posted will not be fixed by running those commands because that doesn't actually resolve the core problem.

Free/Busy information coems through the availability service, which is tied to autodiscover. If autodiscover isn't working then availability will not work.

Autodiscover problems have been discussed frequently on this forum, so I suggest that you start by doing a search.

    Simon.

Hold strg on your tastatur and right click on the outlook icon in taskbar beside the clock.
You get a menu.. click on "Test E-Mail AutoConfiguration".
      Mark only "Use AutoDiscover".
Type your email address and your password and click on test.

You will see if your autodiscover works properly.

          To all,

yes the autodiscover seems to be the culprit,

          Then I refer to this:
          Code:
          http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958934/EN-US
I've downloaded the Hotfix but then i got this error message:

None of the products that are addressed by this software update are installed on this computer. Click Cancel to exit setup.

Did you install SP2 for Outlook?

This is not an Outlook issue, the problem is with Exchange.
The usual cause is SSL certificate or DNS resolution issues internally.

When they use a SRV-Record for resolving autodiscover it could be a problem with outlook 2007!
                  http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...40881&x=13&y=6

For this feature you need Service Pack 1!

Internal clients do not use SRV records, they use the information from the domain. Given that the SRV record configuration clearly states that you must the correct service pack, I still doubt very much that this is an Outlook issue.

Ah yes ... sorry... that's right.
I was a little bit confused because some sites of us uses our exchange with rpc over https.
                      I have mistaken. Sorry.

I've been having the same issue with Exchange 2k7 SP2 for months now and haven't found any answer/solution to it. My External users don't have the problem. It's my internal users who are not able to get the Free/Busy info for other colleagues or conference rooms.

When I ran Test E-mal Auto-Configuration, everything comes back fine but I'm still having the same issue:

                        Protocol: Exchange RPC
                        Server: wdcexch.domainname

                        OOF URL: https://wdccas.domainname/EWS/Exchange.asmx

                        Protocol: Exchange HTTP
Server: mail.npca.org ( the CN of the SSL certificate)
                        Login Name: hx40r

                        Authentication Package: Basic
                        Certificate Principal Name: msstd:mail.domainname

I don't think I have an issue with UC cert that I'm using because my remote users are able to access the service fine. Could it be that I'm not using a cert for my internal users? There is a self-signed cert but that's it. I don't have an internal CA running. The UC cert is installed on the CAS box and exported to the TMG 2010 to publish OWA, Autodiscover, ActiveSync, Outlook Anywhere.
Anyway, it will be really awesome to find a solution to this headache.

Make sure that the URLs in the box resolve correctly. That may mean the implementation of a split DNS ssytem, so that URLs resolve internally to the correct locations - that being internal servers.
