  • After installing Powershell 2.0 (WMF) Exchange Server 2007 cmdlets doesn't work ?

    Hi All,

I 've just updated my exchange Server 2007 with the Powershell 2.0 64 bit but now the problem is, from the Powershell ISE and even the blue command line i cannot execute cmdlets for my Exchange server 2007 SP1, can anyone show me what I'm missing here ?

    Code:
    PS C:\Documents and Settings\ADMINISTRATOR.Domain.com> Get-MailboxServer
The term 'Get-MailboxServer' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the pa
th is correct and try again.
    At line:1 char:18
    + Get-MailboxServer <<<<
        + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (Get-MailboxServer:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException
    Thanks.

I did not think Powershell 2 was supported on Exchange 2007 SP1?

I believe you will need SP2

      Yes it is Dave,

here it s the way to activate it:

      add-PSSnapin *exchange*
      Get-PsSnapIn -Registered
      and then the result:
      Code:
      Name : Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.Admin
      PSVersion : 1.0
Description : Admin Tasks for the Exchange Server

      Name : Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Powershell.Support
      PSVersion : 1.0
Description : Support Tasks for the Exchange Server

      Name : Quest.ActiveRoles.ADManagement
      PSVersion : 1.0
Description : Registers the CmdLets and Providers in this assembly

Powershell is not the same as Exchange Management Shell. Unless you start Powershell through the shortcut for Exchange Management Shell you do not get the Exchange options.

You have the same problem if you use a powershell script on a schedule - just running script.ps1 will not be enough.
