  • remove /owa owa redirect from Exchange 2007 / IIS7

Dear all. I have a single Windows 2008 Std R2 Server running as DC and Exchange 2007 Std.

I have enabled SSL certificate, but I want to prevent the users from having to type in "https://domain.com/owa" and prefer just to type "https://domain.com".

How do I remove the need for /owa

I also need users to connect with ActiveSync from their windows mobiles if that adds anything.

    Regards
    eKernel

You cannot remove the requirement for the /owa as that is how Exchange is designed to work.
The only thing that you can do is put a redirect file in to the root of the web site that will redirect the users to the /owa URL.

Create a file called default.asp and put this text in to it:

    <% response.redirect "https://mail.example.com/owa" %>

Replacing the mail.example.com with your external host name.

Hopefully you are using SSL and are not using the root of your domain. The root (example.com, rather than host.example.com) should really be pointing to your public web site, as a lot of people do not enter the www in to their browser any longer.

      Hi Sembee.

Makes sense, however I'm not to familiar with doing what you've just said.

Is it as simple as creating a basic html page, adding that code into the html page, then setting that page as a *.asp page as opposed to *.html ?

      Thanks.

It is not an HTML file.
It is a regular notepad file. Just named differently.
