  • OWA 2007 certificate errors with IE8

We have OWA 2007 published through ISA 2006. We have the certificate for the published URL (used internally and externally) installed onto both the internal CAS servers and both ISA arrays successfuly. The certificate was issued by Verisign.

We have a strange issue where we get certificate errors when accessing OWA 2007 remotely in IE8 and Firefox v3.5 . Although when accessing using IE6 the certificate is fine. The warning states the certificate was not issued by a trusted authourity, yet viewed in IE6 this is fine:

Screengrab of webmail cert in IE6:

Screegrab of parent issuer (Verisign) in IE6:

Yet in IE8 the parent issuer cert (Verisign) is showing as expired, which makes our cert invalid:

Does anyone have any ideas? Have checked the certs are all installed ok on all servers

Not sure how much this KB article is related to your issue but I just wanted to share it with you:

Cause (Section) : Frequently, this issue occurs with VeriSign certificates because the intermediate CA certificate in the certificate store on the Windows Server 2003 server is expired.

Hope it helps in finding the cause...when I used to work for Microsoft (Exchange Team) we used to get lot of calls regarding intermediate certs issues from might want to check first with them.
