  • Can Exchange 2007 do Email Address Wilcards?

    Hi,

I am an Exchange Newbie. I have a Linux server with Postfix that I am converting to a MS SMB 2008 Premium server, and setting up Exchange 2007.

So far no significant issues, however I cannot find here or via Google a way to dupliate the Postfix wildcard feature. Gmail also provides the feature.

Many of our users, myself included have leveraged the fact that Postfix allows you to specify a "wildcard" in the users email address. For example [email protected] resolves to "greg" Everything after the "." wildcard character in the username is ignored.

Can I duplicate this in Exchange 2007?

I found one post on the Internet indicating I would have to get a developer to write a new Receive Connector, but I can't believe that with all the other bells and whistles, that this has not been covered off somehow.

    Thanks,

    Greg

Nope. Not available in Exchange. Exchange is exact address only.
You are referring to a custom transport sink, not connector.
