  • Laptops Have to do a IPCONFIG /release and /renew to connect to exchange

    Good morning,

I am at my wits end! I have a client that is setup on Exchanger 2007 and Windows 2008 Server Std. I have setup several servers just like this with absolutely no issues. For some reason on this network Some of the laptops seem to drop connection once or twice during the day, the only way to get them back on the network is to do a icponfig /release and /renew. When they first come in, in the morning they have to do the same things to get there machines online. The desktops seem to be fine. Outside of the network everything seems to be fine you don't get disconnected. All the laptops are using RPC to connect. I have tried so many different tweaks and fixes, I am willing to give anything a shot now!
    Thanks

What is providing the devices with a DHCP address?
Router or the server? Ensure that it is NOT a router or other network device.
If the users are connecting to routers outside the network which are using the same subnet (ie the default of 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x) then that can cause problems. I would suggest changing the subnet of the office network.
