  • Outlook 2007 free/Busy Availability not working

    Hi all.

We are currently using Exchange 2007, we have upgraded 4 client pcs from Outlook XP to Outlook 2007, since then those 6 pc's can no longer see the free/busy Availabilty of anyone else in the organisation when trying to schedule a meeting. All the can see is a grey crossed line "no information available"

Looking on the net, it points to the fact that the Availability Service is not funtioning properly. Im not even sure if we have configured our Client Access Servers, and installed your organizations SSL certificate on IIS properly

From one website "The problem here is because of a certificate name mismatch. You have installed the certificate for your company's webmail URL (webmail.company.com) on your Client Access server but your Outlook client is accessing it using the host's FQDN, which results in the mismatch. If you have configured your internal DNS servers to resolve webmail.company.com directly to the CAS server (or the CAS NLB virtual IP), you can modify the InternalURL value by using the Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory cmdlet. In the following command I am making the internalURL same as the externalURL. "

    Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -id:"EWS*" -ExternalUrl "https://webmail.company.com/ews/exchange.asmx" -InternalUrl "https://webmail.company.com/ews/exchange.asmx"

However, we can see the Free/Busy information for other users if we use Outlook Web Access (OWA).

Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this problem or translate the above into ENGLISH !?

    Thanks in Advance

Have you imported a certificate into Exchange 207 or left it as the default?

      Hi Guru.

Exchange 2007 has been setup and left as DEFAULT, so no work on Certificates has been carried out.

(I wouldnt even know where to start)

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is worth reviewing. You may need to purchase another 3rd Party Certificate with all required Exchange 2007 SANs and the external domain address.

You can't really run Exchange 2007 without SSL. Therefore I would suggest that you complete the implementation of Exchange with a commercial SSL certificate.

Once that is setup correctly, it is easier to troubleshoot.

Course was great, but didnt tell me how to resolve this issue !

In the end I found this article which may be of assistance to some of you.

                http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958934/en-us

If you use the workaround in the article it resolves the issues.

                Thanks again for your assistance.
