  • Exchange 2007 - Outlook Anywhere working, now ActiveSync is broken!

    Internal Exchange 2007 server
    Windows 2008
    Mailbox and CAS roles
    completely behind the firewall
    name: EXCHANGE.ADS.INTERNALDOMAIN.COM

    External Exchange 2007 server
    Windows 2003
    CAS role only
    GoDaddy certificate
    Only 80 and 443 open
    name: OWA.EMAIL-DOMAIN.COM

Email and internal domain names are different.

Finally got Outlook Anywhere working and autodiscover is working for outside clients. Now that OA is working, ActiveSync is not working. For example, entering Exchange info into an iPhone fails and when it tries to autoconfigure the iPhone, it comes up with the INTERNAL server name as the server. If I put in the external server name, it does not connect. I see redirects to the internal server.

    2009-08-03 22:39:42 W3SVC1 EXTERNALIPCASSERVER OPTIONS /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/default.eas &Log=RdirTo:https%3a%2f%2fINTERNAL-MAILBOX-SERVER%2fMicrosoft-Server-Activesync_Error:MisconfiguredDevice_ 443 NETBIOSDOMAIN\user EXTERNALIPOFMOBILEDEVICE Apple-iPhone/701.400 451 0 0

How do I tell it to use the external server for ActiveSync or whatever so ActiveSync works? Thanks!

Have you entered the correct URL for the EXTERNAL address in the ActiveSync virtual directory?

The iPhone is a poor tool to test with. Try Microsoft's test site instead.
