  • Exchange 2007 and SCL JUNKMAILTRESHOLD

Hello there My Name is Manfred im working with Exchange Systems since
    Exchange 5.5 ~ since 1999

I want to Post a Spechial Question here -->

why are Emails not transferred to the Junkmail Folder?

If everything is setup correct of Cause

So as an Edge Server we are using Sendmail and Spamassassin on Linux
This System is checking the Mails for Spam Calculates the Spam-Possibility and adds the result in form of x-spam Headers in the MailHeader of each Email.
    (so Far so good)
On the Inside we have a Exchange 2007 SP1 SR8 on Windows 2008 Standard with 8 Gig Ram AMD Dualcore ~2,7Ghz plenty of Diskspace... ,
install-Antispamagent.ps1 ( no Quarantine or Reject Drop Rule Enabled)
Everything in Place we need to let this System Run fast and smooth.

In the Exchange 2007 Powershell we set Transport Rules like:
    when a Email has a Messageheader like X-Spam-Score: 08,09,10,11,..
The Rule adds an SCL Level like 5,6,7,8
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    $condition1 = Get-TransportRulePredicate HeaderContains
    $condition1.MessageHeader = "X-Spam-Flag"
    $condition1.words = @("YES")
    $action1 = Get-TransportRuleAction SetSCL
    $action1.SCLValue = 9
    $Action2 = Get-TransportRuleAction SetHeader
    $Action2.MessageHeader = "X-Spam-Status"
    $Action2.HeaderValue = "Yes"
    new-TransportRule "Spam Score 9" -condition @($condition1) -action @($Action1, $Action2) -Priority 0
    $condition1 = Get-TransportRulePredicate HeaderContains
    $condition1.MessageHeader = "X-Spam-Score"
    $condition1.words = @("X11.", "X12.", "X13.", "X14.", "X15.")
    $action1 = Get-TransportRuleAction SetSCL
    $action1.SCLValue = 8
    $Action2 = Get-TransportRuleAction SetHeader
    $Action2.MessageHeader = "X-Spam-Status"
    $Action2.HeaderValue = "Yes"
    new-TransportRule "Spam Score 8" -condition @($condition1) -action @($Action1, $Action2) -Priority 1
    $condition1 = Get-TransportRulePredicate HeaderContains
    $condition1.MessageHeader = "X-Spam-Score"
    $condition1.words = @("X08.", "X09.", "X10.")
    $action1 = Get-TransportRuleAction SetSCL
    $action1.SCLValue = 7
    $Action2 = Get-TransportRuleAction SetHeader
    $Action2.MessageHeader = "X-Spam-Status"
    $Action2.HeaderValue = "Yes"
    new-TransportRule "Spam Score 7" -condition @($condition1) -action @($Action1, $Action2) -Priority 2
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

And at the Exchange Org.Konfig and Mailbox Settings:
    ---------------------------
    Get-OrganizationConfig |fl *scl*
    SCLJunkThreshold : 5
    And
    Get-mailbox | set-mailbox -SCLJunkEnabled $true -SCLJunkThreshold 4

as far as i understood this Settings every Mail with an SCL greater than 4 should be moved to the Junkmail Folder of the User's.

So am i right or am i wrong here with this settings?

Aktuall all Mails are still dropped in the Users Inbox and no Mail with a score greater/equal to SCL "5" is dropped into the Junkmail Folder.
    and the Setting in OWA-->
!!Webmail -->Automatic Junkmail Filter is Disabled!!

    SO......
Why are these Emails still going to the Users Inbox instead to the JunkmailFolder with an SCL at 5 or higher!

and to get it more confusing!
I found an Solution/workaround allready.... but we would have to Pay for it!
I have discovered this tool called "Spam Mover for Exchange 2007"
    http://www.ivasoft.biz/spammover2007.shtml
I did run tests on it and it looks like that it does exactly what i want to get accomplished what the transport Roles don't!

So now im looking for Feedback and explanation...

Has any one else the same Problem and maybee found another Way to
filter Mail Header-Elements and Move Mails to the Junkmail Folder?
One Setting for all Users ?

Is there any other Way to work around this Issue with the Transport Rules?
Has anyone else Expirence with Moving Mails to the Junk Email Folder!?

I'm on this Chase now for nearly a Month and the Microsoft/Partner Programm Responce is not realy comming up with an Solution that fits My needs.

    Kind Reguards

    Happy to get any Feedback

    Manfred
Working...
