  • resource mailbox calendar access rights

I have a resource mailbox for a conference room, currently any user is able to edit the calendar directly. I do not want our users to be able to edit calendar entries directly; rather them send a scheduled appointment to the mailbox. And uses 'Autoaccept' to accept the appointments.

when running get-mailboxpermission conferenceroom | fl

I noticed domain users had AccessRights {FullAccess}; I removed FullAccess rights and granted them ReadPermission but users are still able to edit and create calendar entries on the conference room calendar. What am I missing?

No such thing as read only permissions to mailboxes. The "read" permission that you have seen is to the object, not the contents.

You need to set the permission on the calendar folder itself.

Oh and don't forget that permissions cache for up to two hours, therefore if you made the change and attempted to use it immediately, it wouldn't be effective.

With this being a resource mailbox how to I set the permission on the calendar folder in the ESM?

The fact that it is a resource is inconsequential.
You need to log in to the mailbox using Outlook and set the permission there. You cannot set the permission at folder level through ESM.
