started receiving this error message while trying to send mail to this domain. We haven't sent any mail to this new client before but I don't see why this wouldn't work:

could it be that the domain name has a bad phrase in it's name?

    @analaboratories.com It's actually Ana Lab

Do you have a Smart Host you can re-direct the email through? You can then create another SMTP connector with a lower cost than the one with address scope of *. This new one can be for the ISP smarthost and the address space of the domain below.

Part of the message indicates redirecting mail to the ISP server.

Re: Exch 2007: Error #533 undeliverable

Correct the FQDN on your Send Connector.
It currently says rblsmtpd.local which isn't valid on the internet and is being rejected. It should be the public name of your server such as mail.example.com
If you continue to get the message then you will have to route email via your ISPs server.

You need to setup a Smart Host then through your ISP. Effectively, you end up with 2 connectors for sending Internet mail. Maybe 1 with cost of 1 for your problem domain that is configured with the 'smart host' of your ISP, they usualy have one you can use for your outgoing email without it effecting how your emails are delivered, and your existing one with * needs to be set to 2 (or just needs to be cost higher than the Smart Host one.

I have carried this for one client that has issues with a numebr of domain addresses and resolved a similar issue as yours.

I tried to create new send connector, but still no luck.

              Name: Ana Lab
              intended use: Internet
              type: smtp
              address: 207.103.11x.xxx (their domain name)
              cost: 1
              Smart host:
              FQDN: outgoing.verizon.net
              Authentication: NONE
then I even tried it with basic and the proper username & password, still no luck.

You haven't configured it as a Smart Host. Contact your ISP to get one.

Sorry, think you have looking further at it.

So is the other connector now at cost of 2?

Is the NDR the same you get sent back? Can you post it.

Also, check the 'message tracking' to see the connector the sent email took out of your organisation.

                Thanks

yes I get the same NDR. I contacted Verizon, and they don't have a clue about Smart Host. But I believe I have set it up correctly. I double checked the authenticatoin and made sure the username and password are correct. I also make the new Send Connector Cost to 3, and left my original send connector at 1 (not modifying that one at all).

Re: Exch 2007: Error #533 undeliverable

I see. You just need the name/IP address of a server at the ISP that will relay emails form your email server. As they allocate you an IP, it should be permitted as default.

The cost of your created connector needs to be 1 and the existing 3. You then add the domain name to the one with cost of 1 and then the other (that could be cost 2 if you want), will handle all other email domains in the normal way.

                      my smart host is: outgoing.verizon.net

I can change new send connect cost from 3 to 1.

but hopefully this will not affect my original send connect, I will change that from 1 to 2. and test it all out.

Somewhere in your configuration is this:

                          rblsmtpd.local

That is why the email is being rejected.

Most ISPs will not know the phrase "smart host". However if you refer to it as outbound SMTP Server then they will know what you mean.

that is nowhere in my config. I set this up back in June, and this is the only domain we can't e-mail.

yeah Verizon didn't know but the settings are correct for a new Smart Host.

The problem is not on your end. rblsmtpd.local is a RBL client running on the recipient's server and it's rejecting your email.

When I telnet to port 25 of the MX record for the recipient's domain from my Exchange server I get: 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1).
