    Hi Everyone,

    Im fairly new to exchange 2007 but ive got a simple question. I would like to know if you can delete a mailbox without deleting the user from Active Directory?

    Yes you can.

    If you have the Exchange Management tools installed on your machine, or you can use the server, you can open up ADUC and select Exchange Tasks and it should let you delete the mailbox.

    Whoops that was for Exchange 2003 not Exchange 2007. Not sure if its the same or not.

      Yep that was 2003. (MS like keeping us on our toes !)
      For 2007 you have two choices in the console. Remove mailbox (which removes the user and the mailbox) or disable mailbox (which removes the mailbox from the account, it can still be attached/purged later).

      It can be down through powershell too:

      Remove Mailbox

      Disable Mailbox

            Yep.
            I got caught by it once at the start, deleted an admin account...
