  • Exchange 2007 Public Folder items not replicating to 2003 Public Folders

    Hi,

    I just recently installed Exchange 2007 SP1 on Server 2008 (x64) coexisting with my Exchange 2003 SP2 on Server 2003 SP1. I have moved about 20 of my 400 mailboxes to the new Exchange 2007 Server and normal mail flow is working perfectly between both Exchange Servers and the External Network. I would like to keep this enviroment coexisting untill I have carried out a couple of more weeks testing before I move all our mailboxes over to Exchange 2007. We are big users of Public Folders in our organisation and I have noticed that existing and new items are replicated from 2003 Public Folder Store to 2007 Public Folder Store, but when I create a new item in a Public Folder in a 2007 Public Folder the item is not replicated back to the 2003 Public Folder Store. All Public Folders in both Public Folder Stores have the two Exchange Servers listed as replica's. Is it possible to have two way replication so my users on Exchange 2003 Server can see items created by the users on Exchange 2007 Server during coexistance? If yes, any ideas as to why replication is only one way?

    I have never said the words Public Folder so many times before

    Thanks

    Craig

    PF replication is always two way, so that means something is going wrong.
    The classic reason is interference from something. AV usually.

    Check message tracking on both servers to see if the replication traffic is going across and being delivered correctly.

      Hi Sembee.

      There is no mail stuck in either exchange server queue.

      I can see lots of SEND event id's in the message tracking toolbox on the exchange 2007 server being sent to [email protected] ever 30 min or so.

      Some details of the SEND entires are:

      Source = SMTP
      MessageSubject = StatusRequest
      Sender = [email protected]
      Recipient = [email protected]
      ConnectorId = Intra-Organization SMTP Send Connector
      RecipientStatus = 250 2.1.5 [email protected]
      TotalBytes = 3900 (Average for this query done during middle of night)
      ReturnPath = [email protected]

      Hope this info is helpdful. If not please let me know.

      Thanks Craig

        What about on the Exchange 2003 server?
        You should see the replication traffic come in and be delivered to the store.

          Hi Simon, I still could not get replication of Public Folders from exchange 2007 to 2003 but I have now moved all my mailboxes to exchange 2007 now so the public folder store on exchange 2003 is not needed anymore. Thanks for your suggestions. Thanks Craig
