  • external account as reply for all users in Exchange server 2007

    Hello,

I have a strange scenario that i have to use the same SMTP (reply email) for all users in Exchange 2007 server.

The external account is [email protected]

i have a popgrabber that is downloads email from the above account and its forwarding to one distribution list.

Up to here everything is working fine.

But the problem is that i have 7 users that i have to set the "reply email" as the external ex: [email protected]

Is that possible to be done? i can set this for one user but not for more. I'm getting that the SMTP address is already exist.

Customer wants to have one central mail and any user sending new emails or replying the from has to be from the above external email address so they don't have to select each time from the "From" field in MS Outlook.

Any help or suggestions is appriciated.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Andreas

I don't think this is possible with Exchange natively.
It can be done with third party tools. I have done it with Exclaimer in the past. It is basically rewriting the SMTP headers.

      Hey is it's possible

use address rewrite feature. or just google for address rewrite exchange server 2007. (Note you need to have edge role installed for this to work)

I have done googlie for you
      http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en...G=Search&meta=

You use address rewriting to present a consistent appearance to external recipients of messages from your Exchange 2007 organization. You configure the Address Rewriting agent on the Edge Transport server role to enable the modification of the SMTP addresses on inbound and outbound messages. Address rewriting is especially useful when a newly merged organization that has several domains wants to present a consistent appearance of e-mail addresses to external recipients.

after all i am PSS Support Engineer working for microsoft not that great but not that bad either

Requires Edge. Good to see that you updated your response to include that information.

I am sure that there are a few people who have deployed Edge.
Still an expensive purchase for one feature.
As I have said many times before - Edge is a waste of money. I can do everything that Edge does for a lot less than the cost of another Exchange 2007 server license.
