  • Fail Over Exchange Server email routing

To all my fellow Tech Guru's:

I have an Exchange 2007 Server environment and I am looking to place another Mail Server at a Remote Site. The desired function of this additional server is to handle email in the case of emergency, internet or power outage at my main site.

What direction do I need to take and is it possible with exchange 2007? This remote/backup exchange server would need to be fully functional and automatically take over when the mx records sends mail to it.

Would I need to set up a backup domain controller to handle Active Directory requests from the remote exchange server? Would this server's exchange database/ mailbox store have to be mirrored? Also I would like my users to have the same capabilities like outlook web access as if it was the original exchange server.

    Is this possible?
