  • Best way for Exchange 2007

Well this is how it stands...

We are building new network infrastructure for our AD domain. Which will be

    companyname.local

our ISP till now, has been hosting our e-mail

    companyname.com

and now, we are taking over it.

What I want is to preserve names for our e-mail account e.g. , when we send mail it should be

[email protected] - on the recepient side

I know that that should point out their MX record to our external Host (A) address which will be on the ISA 2006 (there will be publishing). But our system integrators arent very clear in explaining this, so I need some clarification about this. What would be best scenario for this case. I donīt have enough time to learn it carefuly.

P.S. Some links for quick reading would be very helpful.

You should keep everything as it is until you have Ex07 installed and working for internal emails. When you create new mailboxes for your internal users you will be able to see what email addresses they have before you actually start accepting email inbound.

You need to allow port 25 inbound to your Ex server and test it can be accessed externally.

Once you are happy everything is as it should be then you tell your ISP you want mail for your domain sent to your public IP. They should change the MX and A records for this (can take a few hours to replicate, especially globally).

      Thanks,

That gives me an idea how to go ahead. Will this make e-mails sent from my internal network to have an

      [email protected] - shape?

      Cheers !
