  • Antivirus for Hub Transport

We're planning on installing Symantec Mail security onto our CAS/HT server, which has the Client Access server and hub transport server, but we're not sure if it will scan for viruses. Is there another application to implement anti-virus on the CAS? Our email is getting routed from the Hub Transport server and emails are not getting scanned for viruses. Can anyone recommend a solution to fix this problem. Thanks.

If you value your email then install something else.
I see more problems caused by Symantec than any other product. I only do one thing with Symantec AV on Exchange servers - remove it and install something else.

The best thing you can do for your entire network is throw that trash out. I have written off two years of updates in the past and bought something else, and the client has seen significant performance gains.

What would you recommend as antivirus software. Does Exchange comes equipped with one?

        I find Trend good.
Mcafee Groupshield used to be ok, once configured correctly but I've had a few issues recently with it, albeit on clustered MB servers (not my choice to install it).

        Not tried the MS offering.

Exchange doesn't have anything built in. (MS would be shot probably for being anti-competitive again )
        cheers

I am not a fan of the big three (Symantec, McAfee and Trend) mainly based on price.
Sophos I have had problems with. NOD32 is a little quirky.

Microsoft's Forefront is quite good - Microsoft bought in Sybari Antigen which was the best you could get. It uses multiple engines, which is also how GFI Mail Security works. One of those two is what I would suggest looking at.
