  • Forward Emails to Different Domain

What's the best way to forward an email across domains?

The domains are not connected in any shape or form. UserA is working with my organization and administration wants UserA to have [email protected]. However, UserA also has [email protected].

Basically they want [email protected] to forward all emails to [email protected].

I know that Outlook Rules can be created to accomplish this, but I wanted to see if there was a way to perform this on the server.

What's the best way to do this?

If I have this correct then just create a contact for that external email address and then just setup a mailbox for [email protected] with forwarding setup.

Close, but no cigar on this one. It will only allow me to forward to emails within my own domain with that article.

      Any other thoughts?

Re: Forward Emails to Different Domain

True, apologies for that. But the thoery is there, just create a contact and use the gui to do it.
You can see the recipient types here

So create a contact and open the users mailbox in the gui, setup forwarding as normal but to the contact.

Re: Forward Emails to Different Domain

I have used this many times:
[email protected] as Mailbox enabled user
[email protected] as a Mail enabled contact

Set up forwarding (Exchange Console--User Mailbox--Properties--Mail Flow Settings--Delivery Options) and deliver to mailbox and forward option
