  • ActiveSync and OWA setup on Exchange 2007 with Windows 2008

Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2008
    Certificate from GoDaddy installed.

Can someone please provide simple instructions how to setup OWA to redirect
HTTP to HTTPS and without typing /exchange or /owa? So that users will just type
mail.domain.com, get to the correct page
Same thing for ActiveSync so I can setup PDAs.

Iíve been browsing internet for a long time, and cannot find any
    straightforward solutions.
All solutions that I found were written for IIS6 and I have IIS7

I have already posted this for you on another forum, but I will repeat it here for completeness.

The URL redirection is different to Windows 2003. You have to use a default.asp file (or other default page) in the root of the web site to redirect users to the relevant URL. http://www.amset.info/exchange/owa-redirectpages.asp Redirect them to /exchange if you are in a mixed site and let Exchange do the rest.

The SSL requirement is also done in the same way - IIS Manager, then modify the relevant error page. Although personally I don't use a redirect - I simply do not open port 80 on the firewall, which is the most secure.

I don't know what you mean about Windows Mobile devices. Once the certificate is in place they simply type in to their device the URL on the certificate and the Windows Mobile device does the rest.

Don't expect the same level of documentation for Windows 2008 as you get for Windows 2003. The product is weeks old, whereas Windows 2003 has been around for some five years.

    Simon.

      Very straight forward.

In the default web site home page (e.g. default.htm) just insert a single line of code:

      <SCRIPT LANGUAGE='JavaScript'>window.location='https://<host.domain>/owa/';</script>
