  • Domino to exchnage 2007 migration using transporter suite

    Dears,
Can anyone guide me through the migration process? This is my first time and I am looking to move 4000 mailboxes from domino to exchange 2007 using the transporter suite. Would appreciate any step by step guide!!
Also can someone tell me if after the migration users can still connect using the notes 6.x client?and how can I migrate the users from notes to outlook 2007? Can I preserver the folders and rules applied in notes?
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,

Migration from Dominoes to Exchange is one of the most complicated processes..One of the easier way out would be to use a converter like Xitnotes to convert .nsf files to .pst files and import them for respective users but that method is expensive and also we need a special time when we know that the users have completely stopped using notes more over all has to be done in one go...

Since I am also scheduled to do migration next month,I have started of with a test environment and have been following this link

    http://www.msexchange.org/articles_t...007-part1.html

Its a good one and does talk about co-existence of both servers and migration of contacts in notes to GAL though I am not sure if the rules would be migrated too.

Will be posting u with the updates soon..

      Thanks Fazal,
I will start the migration very soon and 3rd party tools are not allowed
However can anyone tell me if I migrate all the users' mailboxes, can a migrated user still use lotus notes client to sedn/receive mails?

You'll need to have a connector from exchange to notes or vice versa, i can't imagine you'd be able to route email to [email protected] to both servers, unless you have something in place at the smtp gateway. What i think we will end up doing is there will be a connector to exchange and mailboxes that do not exist on the domino server will be routed to exchange, Temporarily.

          Thx for the reply.
Does anyone know if lotus notes client can be configured to receive pop mails?I am thinking that maybe then i can configure it to receive the mails from exchange.
What i m looking for is to migrate the mailboxes and continue to use notes instead of outlook for a limited period, during which i need the users to see their old emails and to send/receive new ones.
another thing, is there a way to keep the folders and rules, that were existing in notes , in outlook? Can we migrate folders and rules also?
          Thanks for the help.
          Regards,

            Hey guys,
I am going to have a coexistence. I strated the installation of the transportr suite and everything is working fine, i can migrate users, but i cannot migrate contacts!!!
The SMTP domain is not running on the domino but on a separate server.
I am using the lotus admin account and I have all the rights.
Should the notes client be open while this is done?

Re: Domino to exchnage 2007 migration using transporter suite

This is exactly what one of our clients in NJ is facing. They are a large publication company located in Hoboken, NJ. To help them solve their problem, they are looking for a strong Exchange specialist.

They are migrating from Domino to Exchange 2007. They are looking for someone with in-depth on the job knowledge of Domino to Exchange Transporter, especially in Free/Busy Time look up issues.

If you know anyone who might be able to help them, and live within commutable distance, please email me at [email protected]. This will be roughly a 1-2 week consulting engagement to start ASAP.

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

I was told today that I am doing a Domino to Exchange 2k7 migration in a few weeks for around 250 users. I will be following the msexchange.org articles.......note to self kill all sales people that sell first and ask engineers second.
I'll let you know how I go on both of these projects
