  • Exchange 2007 setup in domain tree

    Hi,

I want to sugession for my on going setup of exchange server 2007.

I have forest with 1 root and 5 child domain controllers.

I want to install exchange 2007 server as following way.

    Mailbox server in root domain

HUBCAS server with root domain and HUBCAS with all child domain.

    and a single Edge server.

So it is possible to access mail through MAPI client in all server with help of HUBCAS and also it is convinient for bandwidth?

Please sugess me what should better for my organization?

add another dc in the root. How many user are there in the child, 5 dc's may be overkill so you could use one of them?

is it contiguous or non contiguous child domain?

I would just leave the root without Exchange servers and have them all in the child if that is where your users are.

What are your requirements for the edge server?

What is your physical topology like?
    cheers

      Hi,

Actually I want to create one mailbox server and users are at all locations.

Edge sever is used for mail receiving and also for mail routing.

In our organization 100 users at all domains.

and all child is contiguous child domain.

        Hey,

There is one way that configure CLIENT ACCESS SERVER with all server and HUB transport server with only root server where MAILBOX server resides.

And no need of EDGE server role in organization.

        Sam.

HubTransport is for receiving and routing. Edge sits in the DMZ but isn't always needed.

Can you lay out a bit more information as to the site and domain setup as it isn't clear. 1 root and 5 child domain controllers to me reads as 1 root domain and 1 child domain with 5 controllers in it. Is this correct?
          cheers

Re: Exchange 2007 setup in domain tree

            Hi,

            the setup is like this.

            xyz.com (root)
            1.xyz.com (child)
            2.xyz.com (child)
            3.xyz.com (child)
            4.xyz.com (child)
            5.xyz.com (child)

all are at different locations and mainly I wnant to know that MAPI client access possible at all location with help of CAS.

As per my knowledge MAPI is working with MAILBOX server so is it any way to resolve this with only single mailbox server?

              Hi Sembee,

              Please advice,

Finally I will going to plan as below.

Configure root domain controller with name xyz.com with /prepareSchema, /prepareAd and /prepareDomain
              ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Configure child domain controller with name 2.xyz.com, 3.xyz.com, 4.xyz.com with /prepareAd and /prepareDomain
              ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Configure child domain controller with name 1.xyz.com
Configure MAILBOX SERVER and HubCas server with 1.xyz.com
              ---------------------------------------------------------------------
All domains are connected through VPN network(256kbps) so MAPI access is possible
              This needs to check.

This is my final workout so if any better way is there then please advice.
