  • Recommendations MS:MAIL to Exchange 2007 Migration

    Hi,

Just as a small project I have been asked to come up with a method of migrating MS:Mail to Exchange 2007. I can see the mailmig from Ex2000 and an updated one in Ex2003 but nothing in 07 (probably understandable considering the age).
My 2003 test box doesn't even show the MS:Mail for PC Networks option for some reason, even though the help does show it oddly.

Currently I can only think of something like building an Exchange 2003 box, importing and then exporting to PST.
    Does anyone have any thoughts?

    EDIT:
Sorry, for some reason the SP2 version of MailMig doesn't show MSMail but the original Exchange 2003 version does (not sure on SP1).

There is no straight from MS Mail to Exchange 2007 option. Therefore you will have to get it in to an older version of Exchange and then upgrade again. I can't remember the last version that supported MS Mail. It may be one of those things that is only available to you if you install the options at the start or upgrade.

If the domain does not already have Exchange 2003 then I would start of with that version then swing to the real hardware. Saves using PST files and all of that hassle.

Thanks for replying. I'm going to investigate tomorrow but, like you say, I think the 2003 option sounds the best. cheers
