  • how to set auto replies Exchange 2007

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to set auto replies on mailboxes for users who are currently of on sick leave. I know that i can reset their AD account and log into OWA and set it that way, but surely there must be a way i can set it without requiring to change their passwords!

    Thanks for any help offered.

If you mean Out of Office, then that is a client side setting. You either need their password or permissions on their mailbox to access the account.

There is a tool for Exchange 2003 that will allow OOTO to be set on the server, however the Exchange 2007 version is not available yet. This a request from the author for Exchange 2007 version testers: http://telnetport25.wordpress.com/20...-2007-testers/

Off the top of my head maybe a very dirty option would be to create an out of office mailbox and use transport rules to bcc everything sent to a mailbox (of the user that has gone away) to this one which you always have the password to?

ok guys, thanks for the suggestions, i think we may have to continue to reset passwords and log into OWA to set the Out of Office reply until a tool is available.
