  • E2K7 - user missing context menu for Mobile Device

Odd problem. I deleted a mobile device partnership for a user in the Exchange Management Console after the user experienced weird issues syncing. We set the device up again and it synced without a problem and all is well "over-the air". Push is working perfectly. I am running SP1 on Wk R.

Unfortunately, now in the console, when I right click the user there is no option to manage the mobile device. There is also no option on the action pane. Every other user has these two things (i.e. manage mobile device in the context menu and action pane)... even the users who have no devices or partnerships. I can still go into OWA and manage the device, as all the options are still on OWA.

Where has the context menu option and action pane item for the mobile device gone? I have tried disabling activesync for the user and re-enabling in order to get the console to "re-paint" them. I have tried disabling the mail box and re-connecting. Something is confused in the console. There must be some way to get the console to redisplay this stuff for this user.... I hope.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Considering everything for the mailbox is stored in the domain it is probably something in adiseidt.msc needs to be toggled. That is where I would start looking, but I cannot help with the exact place to look as it is not something I have seen before.

        Simon, ***UPDATE****

You were dead on correct !! adsiedit.msc did the trick. Went to the users CN. Changed "msExchMobileMailboxFlags" value to "1" and the context menu was/is back in the EMC!!!

I am however bothered by the fact this happened. I am wondering if there is a bug in the EMC... Nothing else seemed to have changed...

Thanks again for the fast and extremely useful advice!!!

Values not resetting correctly could also be caused by poor replication. To report the bug to MS you need to be able to repeat in, preferably in an isolated environment.
