  • Outlook 2007 prompting for login credentials after Exchange Roll-Up 6 update

I'm having a strange issue. On Saturday I installed Update Roll-Up 6 (KB942846) on our Exchange 2007 server. Ever since then, several users are being prompted for their login credentials when opening Outlook. We are all using Outlook 2007. Most of the users are not being prompted, only a few of us. I have already checked the Security settings in Outlook and the the "prompt for login credentials" is not checked. Again, it is only affecting a few of us and we are all set up identically with Outlook 2007. The Exchange server is not a domain controller. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

Any reason you installed Rollup 6 instead of SP1?
Which element is prompting your for credentials? Are you sure it isn't Autodiscover? Are you using Outlook Anywhere to connect? Confirmed the setting there?

Thanks Simon, I found that my Outlook was connecting via Outllook Anywhere and so I unchecked the connect via HTTP setting in Outlook and now all is good. Not sure how that setting changed over the weekend. Thanks for your help.

Regarding SP1 vs Roll-up6. I recently took control of this server and I suspect Exchange 2007 was originally installed from the MSDN. We have proper licensing but are now apparently stuck with this version. Unless there is way to convert/upgrade it without loads of downtime?

Not using http may well be put back if you are using Outlook Anywhere. Rather than dealing with the consequence you should resolve the true problem.

You can apply SP1 to the MSDN software. If you have purchased the correct version then are fine. You could enter the new license key if you with in to the application - the code is the same for all versions - the license key is all that changes.
