  • Choosing a comercial CA for Exchange 2007 - is one better than another

At my new job (started last Monday) they're looking to get a cert for Exchange.
I had suggested looking into GoDaddy to the admin but she said she heard mixed reviews about their certs.
    Excerpt from an email:
Thanks a lot. I am considering GoDaddy and have this list I was going by http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sol....mspx?mfr=true, but I heard mixed things about GoDaddy certs and some problems. Maybe it was the users, but Iím a little hesitant to go with them. They are still in the running though.

For Exchange 2007, I was going to need a cert w/SAN or UCC (multiple hostnames). GoDaddy UCC is about $69/year, which is still very good price, but what headaches will this bring me? I heard great things about DigiCert and the others just more and more expensive. Iím looking for one with greatest support and less headache if problems occur and that can work w/most phones by default.
So is there any issues with using GoDaddy? Is one vendor better than another?

I usually deploy GoDaddy certificates. They are trusted by most Windows Mobile devices.
Most of the "problems" come from admins not reading the instructions on how to install the certificates and getting the root and intermediate certificates in the wrong way round.

The only other problem I have had with GoDaddy with certificates is they have problems issuing to .co.uk domains.

When I have had to contact GoDaddy support it has been fine once the ticket has been passed to the certificate team.

I use Thwate as they're relatively inexpensive and Thawte is a division (owned by) Verisign. I feel like I'm getting Verisign quality at a reduced price.

Slighty off topic, it's like buying Linksys for SoHo networks: I get Cisco quality at a Linksys price.
