  • Outlook Connectivity trips frequently

We have setup of Exchange 2007 in one location & oragnisation 35 location accessing that server through outlook 2007 using RPC over HTTP[Outlook anywhere].

In all 35 location we have Firewall,l3 switch,VLAN.

We are facing following problem in every 5 minutes fro remote locations:

First message comes in task bar is
“outlook trying to retrieve data from server”
    Then,
“Connection to Microsoft Exchange has been lost outlook will restore connection when possible”
& after that message connection has been restored.

We have tried to ping during this time, we get continuous ping to our remote server.
Can you send us possible reasons form same to workaround this problem ?

I think this is related to your other post: http://forums.petri.com/showthread.php?t=21004

If both OWA and Outlook are having connection issues then you need to start looking at a cause being outside of the Exchange server - network connectivity, something like that.

Ping means nothing. It shows that a single packet reached something that responds. I have seen "dead" servers respond to a ping.

      Thanks,

while tring extended ping we are getting packet loss:

      Ping <Exchange server ip> -l 1500 -t

We have one query that how much byte use while outlook is connected through RPC over HTTP.

Because we are getting normal ping response proper of 32-byte but not getting for 1500 byte.

Can you guide us on same?

It has to be something with your network hardware, not Exchange. I have deployed RPC over HTTPS/Outlook Anywhere 100s of times and not seen problems with it.
