  • Exchange 2007 requires Domain Native mode?

    Hello,

I have a single forest with a top domain and 2 subdomains in it. My Exchange 2003 Organisation and servers is all installed in the Top Domain.

Ive run Best Practice Analysers which tells me that my subdomains are running Active Directory in mixed mode.

I know that Exchange Server 2007 requires you to run AD in Native mode, but is that only for the domain which it belongs too or all domains in the forest?

    Thanks in advance.

You will be unable to switch the top domain in to native mode until the subdomains are also in native mode. Therefore you will need to change all the domains. If you don't have any NT4 domain controllers then switch to Windows 2000 native.

Thats Forest Functional Level youre talking about not domain functional level.

Best Practice Analyser is only warning about the domain functional level

My Top Domain is already running Windows Server 2003, while my 2 subdomains (which yes unfortunately still contains NT 4 domain controllers) is running Windows 2000 Mixed

So the question is if im allowed to run Exchange Server 2007 in my top domain with this level of configuration
