  • Format or edit "Your mailbox is over its size limit" message

When a user exceeds mailbox storage limits Exchange 2003 SP2 sends the user an automated message "Your mailbox has exceeded one or more size limits............" The message is badly formatted making it difficult for users to read/understand. Is there anywhere I can get at it to format or edit it?

Yes, that is a VERY common question. Those messages are stored in the MDBSZ.DLL file and I used to have a hack that lets you work around and edit that file, but I'm sure Microsfot would frown on that. Here is a "more supported" solution that showed up on the Exchange team blog:

Is this what you are looking for?

This will be simpler in Exchange 2007 as any of the system messages can be customzied.

Thanks Jim, exactly what I was looking for and I found the blog interesting - but will probably wait for Exchange 2007.
