  • Exchange performance when opening another users mailbox

    Hi,

I was wondering if there are any draw backs or performance issues if a users opens two or three other mailboxes and leaves them open continually?

They would be opened at startup from the option "open these aditonal mail boxes" from the advanced tab in mail box properties

It is for a small department that require there own address but need to access the inbox and sent items of there co workers.

    many thanks....

Those are simply additional MAPI connections. I have sites where half the users have another mailbox open and it is fine.
As long as the server is not under powered and wheezing already then it will have no effect.
However remember that additional accounts are not covered by cached mode in Outlook 2003, so if you are using that they will be accessing the server "live".

      Thanks again !

The server is way under its max spec so another few mapi connections should be fine.

      Thanks again
