  • Problems with sending...

    Dear experts

today we installed mac computer with mac os x 10 tiger as a local workstation in our network.
Our server is running SBS2003. On Mac computer, I configured MS Outlook (also I tried "Mail" program). I can receive emails, but when I send emails, sometimes I get "non-delivery reports", see below:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed.

    ====OR=========
This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted. Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program.

    text/html

What the interesteing is that I can send email to some domains (for example, to yahoo.com), but I can't send to another domains (for example, to gmail.com).

    Any ideas ?
    thank you,
    Mihail

    Re: Problems with sending...

The first message is a delay. Close to useless I am afraid. You need the fatal message to find out what the real reason for the problem is.

What happens if a message is sent via OWA? Same thing?

The most common reason for the failure of emails to be sent is because the DNS information isn't setup correctly or you are on a dynamic IP address.

Put your domain in to dnsreport.com and see if comes back with any errors. If it does, get those errors fixed.
If it comes back with a reverse DNS error then you need to speak to your ISP. If they will not set a reverse DNS then you will have to use a smart host to route email via the ISPs SMTP Server. Get their outbound SMTP server address, then re-run the Internet and Email wizard and enter the smart host address when prompted.
