  • Distribution lists not working

    Here is my odd trouble:

    1) Windows 2000 Server domain controller with Exchange 2000 and clients with Outlook 2003.
New -> Distribution List. Set name, select memebers, send an email to D.L. Everything's fine.

    2) Windows 2003 SBS domain controller with Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003.
New -> Distribution List. Set name, select memebers, send an email to D.L.
Simply it does not work! Outlook 2003 does not resolve D.L.'s name, i.e. the D.L.'s name is not automatically underlined. If I try to send the email to the D.L. i got a "dist_list_name not recognized".

    Thank you for any help.

Are you making this DL in Outlook? Or are you making a Distribution Group? If you're making a Distribution Group, did you wait for the Recipient Update Service to run (or run it manually)?

I'm making the DL in Outlook.
From Outlook main page -> New -> Distribution List.

I don't think this is an Exchange issue.

Make sure the folder is marked as an "e-mail Address Book"
Right click the folder that contains the DL, select Properties, select the Outlook Address Book tab and make sure Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book is checked.

Right. That fixed the problem. Thx
