  • Exchange SP2 SBS2003 Mail Stuck in Queue

I have just installed the SP2 for exchange on a server running sbs2003. And since then I have been getting all mail stuck in the smtp queue and also getting error back when trying to retrieve from the pop3 connector "Access was denied to the mailbox" with error 1029.

Any ideas what to check for as this was all working before?

"Access was denied to the mailbox" with error 1029 - Have you verified the username and password for the mailbox account, check the event logs it will tell you what the pop connector is having a problem with. Also check the logs for any SMTP references and see where that gets you.

I have spent the last few hours looking into this especially the smtp problen. I have run smtpdiag with the following result:

Searching for Exchange external DNS settings.
      Computer name is ASERVER.
VSI 1 has the following external DNS servers:
There are no external DNS servers configured.

      Checking SOA for dosdisk.com.
      Checking external DNS servers.
      Checking internal DNS servers.
      SOA serial number match: Passed.

      Checking local domain records.
Checking MX records using TCP: xyz.co.uk.
Checking MX records using UDP: xyz.co.uk.
Both TCP and UDP queries succeeded. Local DNS test passed.

      Checking remote domain records.
Checking MX records using TCP: dosdisk.com.
Checking MX records using UDP: dosdisk.com.
Both TCP and UDP queries succeeded. Remote DNS test passed.

Checking MX servers listed for [email protected].
      Connecting to mail.dosdisk.com [69.93.85.173] on port 25.
Failed to receive data. Error: 10054
Warning: Expected "221". Failed to get a response from the server.
      Successfully connected to mail.dosdisk.com.

It cant seem to connect on 25, but I can from the command line

      Any ideas?
