  • Decommissioning a Domain

I would like to decomission one of the domains our Exchange 2000 server recieves mail for. I would like our Exchange server to issue a message similar to a NDR giving hints on how to readdress the mail to go to the correct domain. I know you cannot change the NDR message but is there a way of getting mail addressed to [email protected]in to trigger a custome return message ?

    Re: Decommissioning a Domain

    There few option like:

    1. Leave both domaines working - One will set as primary domain address for
users mailboxes - This will save you time & efforts due support calls why
    some users/customers get error message

    2. You can setup "Recipient Policy" & filter it to one group members etc.
The "Recipient Policy" wouldnt need to apply to any user, and users
that will send email to the old domain will get error that the user
    mailbox doesnt exiting.

    3. http://support.microsoft.com/default...314331&sd=tech
