  • How to configure default user not to delete emails

How do I give default user access to a mailbox, I want default users to able to read the contents of the mailboxes, but not to add or delete anything.
I did as From Active Directory Users and Computers ->user properties ->
Exchange Advanced tab->Mailbox Rights . I selected default user and given him read permissions (reviewer) . But still I can delete emails from send items or from Inbox .
I want default user cannot delete emails from sent items .I am using Exchange 2003 .

The option which you provided "Exchange Advanced tab->Mailbox Rights . I selected default user and given him read permissions (reviewer)"

WILL NOT work, becuase if a user is trying to send an email even that email has to get added to the MAILBOX database which will become impossible if you give the user read permission alone.
(tested the option sadi above still users are able to delete the mails

We can take advantage of using the Journals which is available with exchange for this purpose but cannot be used for a large number of users as priv databse size will increase.

How about using a public folder for the same (Any inputs)
