  • NDR error code 5.1.1

    I am unable to send emails to all users from a particular domain. The users concerned used to be part of our AD Forest & Exchange 2003 Organisation, until they decided to part with our group. We did an exmerge of their mailboxes from the exchange server hosting their mailboxes, exported their Public Folders and deleted all references to them from our AD, Exchange server & Mailsweeper. Since then we just couldn't email them from our organisation, although they are getting emails from the rest of the world. This is the error message we get:
    Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

    Subject: TEST
    Sent: 21/01/2006 17:23

    The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

    [email protected] on 21/01/2006 17:23
    The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
    <ourserver.x.x.local #5.1.1>

    We have asked our systems support people to look at this but no one has come up with an answer yet, albeit I hear the Exchange server has not been restarted since the exmerge took place. Is there something in the registry that needs cleaning? We have verified that the recipients email addresses exist.
    This is the third week and we are desperate for a resolution. Many thanks for your help.
