  • Problem sending e-mails

I have problem sending to some e-mail adresses. the person who supporse to receive the message does not receive the message and I dont receive any failed status.

I am using exchange server 2003 pushing mails to mail Marshall 6.0.3.8.

It has been suggested to me to add reverse DNS entry for my mail server since some mail server do not accept e-mail from me.

How do you do this incases where my zone is being managed my some else, thought I have external IP address assigned to this mailserver.

    Thanks.

    Re: Problem sending e-mails

If your dns is managed by someone else then you simply need to tell them to sort out the reverse lookup zone for your domain.

For a simple test have you tried telnetting on port 25 from your mail server to the recipients mail server?

Try this for help on doing this:

      Re: Problem sending e-mails

Thank you for your response, I have managed to do diagnosis on port 25, connectivity were there but mail could not be sent since there was no response once the message was send.

when I tried to use RCPT TO:[email protected] notify=success, failure option I get no response but if I use without notify I get message queued.

I have a question on DNS issues. I said our DNS is being kept some else, yes but its also its a child domain. if the parent domain has all necessary DNS entry, is there a need for the same thing to be done on child domain or a zone?

I will appreciate with you get direct me to a link which has all necessary info on DNS issues.

      Thanks.
