Commenting on recent article on having Exchange Server on Domain Controllers.
    1. How about Small Business Server? It is both DC & Exchange.

    2. Obviously it is not best practices to have Exchange & DC on same box, however, small to med. size companies have to do this frequently. just because they are small does not mean that they do not want the same technologies as Fortune 500 companies.

    3. Every company does not have a 5Lb. box of money to set up multiple servers such as front end/back end Exchange Servers

    Just some observations. Thanks

Re: Exchange 2003 on Domain Controllers

i would advise anyone not to install exchange on a DC... you will see errors and warnings in the event vwr as physical mem runs low.. i just had to deal with someone trying to make an exchange server replicate AD this week..

the log was piled with "server doesnt have the nessasary physical memory to replicate AD" even with a dual processor Xeon with 4 gigs of RAM.

maybe it would be acceptable for a 10 user domain, but it lacks room for scalebility and future expansion.

    just my two packets...
