  • IMF Doesn't Work On Clean Install of SBS 2003 & Exchange 2003 SP2

I performed a clean installation of SBS 2003, applied all service packs and then installed Exchange 2003 and applied SP2. Everything is working fine except for IMF. I added necessary container in AD and added the ContentFilter registry entry but it still doesn't work. Anyone else have this issue?

Please review the Exchange SP2 Release Notes. You will need to add manually container to the Active Directory.

Actually, I already have the container.

My goal was to send Junk mail to users Junk mail folders. I configured the IMF settings on the new server the same as the old server(IMF version 1).

Gateway blocking was set to 8 with no action and Junk Email was set to 4. This worked wonderfully on the old server.

      The resolution:
Set Gateway blocking to 4 and choose archive
      Restart SMTP

At this point we confirmed that messages were being directed to the UCEArchive (which I already created manually)

Set Gateway action to no action

This solved the Junk Mail issue and also created the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Updates\Exch ange Server 2003\SP3 registry key.
