  • Install Exch2003 on Windows 2000 Domain

    Hello everyone!

I am trying to install Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server which is connected to a Windows 2000 Domain. The problem I am trying to deal with is that I don't have access to the AD since the 2003 server can't join the domain as a backup controller.

I thought of creating a new forest/domain in the 2003 server and define a trust with the Windows 2000 domain. Still, I don't see how I will take the AD data in order to use it for the Exchange 2003.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Did you run forestprep and adprep when installing the 2003 server??

As a matter of fact I didn't. I will try and get back - hopefully with good news!

      Thank you very much

I got a bit mixed up there m8.

It shoudl just be ADprep with either the forestprep or domainprep switch.

You are absolutely right! I knew what you suggested from the very beginning, still I preferred not to do any changes on the 2000 domain servers.

That's why I tried to find some other way to have access to the AD schema data.

Do you have a more clear view of the situation now?

          Thanks again
