  • Install Base exchange2003 on win 2003 SP1 server

The server already has win 2003 standard with SP1. When I try to install Exchange 2003 Based CD (no SP1 or SP2 yet) I get an error when I attempt to run the Forest prep routine. It says that this version of Exchange has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows Server. It gives me a this link to go look at bu t I can't detemine what appliaes to me or if I can just ignore and continue

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=37488

This will be the first EX server in this Domain and the only one. AS soon as I get it installed it will be patched to SP2.

Can I just ignore this message and continue?

Is your AD using W2K or Win2003? If W2K, you need to first use the ADPREP /FORESTPREP and /DOMAINPREP command from the Win2003 CD.

If the AD is using Win2003 based DCs then you can ignore the message.

Please note that you SHOULD install Exchange 2003 SP1 prior to SP2, otherwise you will have some OWA and OMA issues.

      Hi,

      I had the same problem.
I resolved the problem by installing in the following order.
      Install W2003.
      Install exchange 2003.
      Install W2003 SP1.
      Install Exchange SP2.

The exchange installation goes smoothly if you dont have SP1 on W2003.
