    I have exchange 2003, how do I go from that to exchange 2013?

    AFAIK you need to be on Exchange 2007 or 2010 (with a specified SP level and Roll Up for each) so you will need to do a 2 stage migration

        Re: Exchange 2003 -> Exchange 2013

        You need to follow the microsoft Migration Instructions () to allow Exchange 2013 to live in the same Exchange Organisation as earlier versions -- it is NOT just aa case of installing it as AD is intimately involved

        Suggest you
        a) research
        b) set up a test 2003 environment
        c)practice migration process
        d) replicate in live environment

        or
        e) get a consultant

          A cross forest migration is the only supported scenario for Ex2013 and Ex2003. The same restrictions for any type of cross forest migration apply. Jason Cherry has done an excellent guide that covers a cross forest migration in depth.

            Correct, using Microsoft's tools will require a two stage migration to get from 2003 to 2013.

            However, there is another option called MigrationWiz, which allows for a direct, automated migration from Exchange 2003 to 2013 with no loss of data.

            Hope this helps!

              There is no migration path from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2013 except via PST files in to a new Forest. If you use MigrationWiz to do a same forest migration then call Microsoft support, the call will not last long as it isn't a supported path.

              Personally I would encourage you to move to Exchange 2010 to begin with. Exchange 2013 is not complete isn't really ready for production use.

                I will migrate to Exchange 2010 and then to 2013.
