  • Reverse Ptr record Setup

I have 2 WAN connections and a exchange 2k3 server. The mx records point to Google Postini's Servers and then the mail is fowarded to the Primary IP of the exchange server and the failover is the 2nd WAN IP pointing to the same exchange server. On the Sonicwall both i have setup failover ISP.

My question is how should i setup the reverse dns records for both ISP. Currently i have mail.domain.com point to the Primary IP and mail.domain.com point to the Second IP. Not sure if that is the best way to do this. I dont want any emails being sent blocked cause of rdns issues if the main isp goes down.

    Thanks
    Dan

    Re: Reverse Ptr record Setup

You don't. Your ISP sets up the PTR records for reverse DNS.

Most outbound email issues can be resolved by using a smarthost, either your ISP or Postini can be used for this but it won't hurt to setup reverse DNS as well.
